Fluoroquinolones are a broad spectrum antibiotic that have carried black boxed warnings for over a decade. Most recently, in 2018, the warning was updated for aortic aneurysm rupture.

i.e Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Moxifloxacin, Avelox, Gemifloxacin, Ofloxacin

Fluoroquinolones can cause serious side effects which can involve the tendons, muscles, heart and nerves. These are signs of fluoroquinolone toxicity.

FQAD (fluoroquinolone associated disability) is characterized as FQ-associated adverse events involving “two or more” of the following categories: musculoskeletal, neuropsychiatric, peripheral and sensory nervous system, skin, and/or cardiovascular lasting 30 days or longer after stopping the fluoroquinolone.

So glad you found us.

Since initially sharing my story, I’ve realized that injuries from prescribed fluoroquinolones are happening more often than doctors know. The FDA has been putting out boxed warnings about potentially permanent effects for over a decade and yet doctors still prescribe these antibiotics as a first line of defense and without counsel to vulnerable patients.

We can make a change.

We’re tired of being told how rare FQ Toxicity is when seeking help and hitting the end of the road when a doctor’s curiosity ends. We are tired of feeling like we’re screaming into the void when we try to bring attention to our pain.

Here we have space for people to be heard and valued for their lived experiences through FQ toxicity and FQAD.

Together we can all bring awareness!
